BTWA Meeting Minutes
September 27, 2008
The Bay Tree Women’s Association meeting was opened by Neta Massey. There were 6 members present.
Vi read the Minutes of the last meeting for our Secretary.
The Treasurer reported that we have a balance of $1199.95 in our treasury.
Neta was nominated for President, and Sally was nominated for Vice President, since these offices were not filled in May’s meeting. They were duly approved by the members.
OLD BUSINESS
Rada Knives
Anita agreed to handle this again this year. She will be ordering a catalog.
NEW BUSINESS
Jaime read a letter from John Hemingway requesting our club to sponsor a hole in the Bay Tree Volunteer Department Golf Tournament. The cost is $100. It was voted on and approved.
Meetings
Next month’s meeting and dinner will be on October 18th. Times and dates for subsequent meetings were discussed. It was the will of the membership that we keep the Business meeting and the Social on the same day. Nancy made a motion which was approved.
Nancy, Vi, and Sally will host October’s meeting.
How to attract other Bay Tree women to attend our meetings and socials was discussed. Nancy was asked to draft a letter including dates and times for upcoming events. The Secretary will have these printed and mailed to every woman who lives at Bay Tree full time.
Welcoming New Families
It was the consensus of the Club that a basket should be delivered to each new resident, and to any other who has not yet received one. Some who may not have received a basket are Ro, Vi, Pat Hawkins, and the Allens at Spring Branch. Everyone should be encouraged to attend our meetings when they are visited.
Classes
There will be classes offered this Fall in oil painting and in dance, to start in October. Those who would like to participate in either one or both of these classes need to register by calling Neta or any Club officer. For dance, there is a charge of $30 per person for the first term ($5 for each of six sessions), due by October 10, if possible. The second term will be $40 and will be payable on January 23rd. The first session is planned for Friday, October 17, at the Club House from 7:00 to 9:00 pm.
The oil painting classes will begin on October 23, and will also take place at the Club House on Thursday evenings from 7:00 to 9:30 pm. These classes will cost $35 for each person. A list of needed supplies will be available. Those wishing to take either of these classes need to contact Neta, or one of the other Officers to sign up and send in their checks immediately.
The meeting was adjourned.
Respectfully Submitted,
Jaime Walton, for the Secretary
